Horsing Around--Summer 2008

Several times this summer we have gone out to Doodle Hill Farm to see Cousin Anne ride her true love, Bucky. Bucky is a HUGE horse and Margaret has lots of fun feeding him carrots. We also were very excited to visit Cousin David and his horses about a week ago. They were very friendly and nosed us a lot!

A Letter to Mr. Rogers

Today during "rest" time, Margaret was saw that Mr. Rogers has an address and she REALLY wanted to send him a letter. She dictated this to me:

Dear Mr. Rogers,
I sometimes watch you on TV. I love make believe land. I want to do everything with you but I can't but I can't because I don't live with you. I love you and you want me to be your neighbor. I got lots of plants and I got three fish and you have six. I go to dance class. You got cooler stuff than I do. Please visit me at St. Matthews. I know it is so long, how will you get here? Please write me back too!
Your Friend,
Margaret

Maybe he will write her back?? For the grown-ups out there....is Mr. Rogers actually still alive? (I will obviously delete this question shortly....)

Oh--the things she says.....UPDATED!!

I have not posted lately about the funny things Margaret says. This is NOT because she has stopped talking! Oh, actually the opposite. She is always amazing me with the things that come out of her mouth. She is a thinker....and a TALKER! I need to constantly have a pen and paper or tape recorder with me in order to remember all the sweet and hilarious things she comes up with!
Here are a few:
-The following comments are about how we could get to see John Christian after we learned that the smoke and fire may be so bad that we would have to cancel the trip to Santa Barbara:
Marg: "Well, we could ride in a bus that could get wings and fly over the locks." (where the road is closed??) "or we could fly a plane" (Marg tickets to fly are expensive), "or we could get a boat." She was pretty determined and still has days when she is sad and misses JC.
-In the car on the way to the lake the other day: "I am older than Olivia and Olivia is older than Alexandra and Alexandra is older than Rich's baby." (sorry Kimberly--he's only Rich's baby according to Margaret???)
-At the lake while playing with her cousin: "Not yet.....not yet.....we are playing.....not yet." I guess you may have had to be there to realize how funny this was. Melissa and I were very surprised at our girls!
-Talking to my mom: "Gugie we are more twins than my mommy and me are because we have the same color skin." Margaret has started to notice my freckles and her solid, dark skin!
-At the lake getting ready for bedtime with Olivia: "Olivia, I will protect you. YOur mommy will sleep downstairs. You don't have to be afraid. I am only afraid of fire breathing dragons, REAL witches, and dinasours!" She really wanted Olivia to sleep with her....
-Lately when she is about to ask for something she will begin with "If you will be so kind......"
-Another conversation with Olivia: O: "Baaie! Baaie!" (Potty) Marg: "HOLD IT! HOLD IT! Don't do it on Baby Emma or my hat!" This was absolutely hilarious to hear from the upstairs loft as Melissa and I were hanging out in the den at the lake cabin we rented.
Answers to general questions:
What is you favorite color? "Hot pink--it is really dark...it is so pretty."
What is the most fun thing you have done during your 4 year old summer? "The most fun thing I've done this summer is go to the beach and go to California. I miss you John Christian!" (Obviously she is thinking he will read this....)
What is your favorite food? "WAAATERMELON!" She said this without any hesitation!
What do you want to be when you grow up? "A veterinarian....someone who checks animals and sees what they are." What animal would you want to care for most? "Bunny rabbits!"
Why do you miss JC so much? "Because he lives in California and I live in St. Matthews--AND he is my husband!"

Happy Birthday Olivia!! July 16 2008

Happy, happy birthday to several of our favorite people--Olivia, Gug-Guh, and Auntie Emily! We really enjoyed some Big Water fun for Olivia's real birthday! Home Made Peach icecream, frozen bananas and other birthday snacks made our hot fun a little cooler!

Sunday-California 2008

Today was a great day. We were very relaxed and enjoyed a day at Emily and Michael's home. Their yard is wonderful. I think I already posted about Margaret being sure that fairies live in the yard...today she built a fairy house and played in it for what seemed like hours. We also had a great little picnic! Michael has officially passed the Margaret test--he babysat while Em and I went to pick up lunch. Margaret was perfectly content to hang out with him and did not even ask to ride with us! I was shocked. We have TONS of pictures from our leisurely day that will be added later. Margaret was exhausted from the past few days and was asleep by 7:36 tonight!
