A Style all her Own....

As I have shown previously, Margaret loves to decorate herself with ribbons and belts and neclaces. Well, this morning before school she decided she needed and extra bow (pink of coarse!), a belt (also with pink in it) and a neclace that she made out of a silver pipe cleaner and many, many beads. She was very fashionable and proud of decorating herself. Yes, I did send her to school like this--I don't want to squelch her sense of fashion, style, creativity and most of all her pride in herself. She came home with the belt still on!

She is Asleep in the DAYTIME!!!

Most everyone who knows Margaret knows that she is NOT a napper. Even when she was an infant she was not a fan of naps. I honestely do not remember the last time she slept during the daytime other than when she was really sick! I actually gave up even trying for a nap right after Margaret turned 3. She goes to bed around 7:30 or 8 and is a good sleeper so I decided to not even fight for the nap. However, today she had some incentive and she went down for a nap like a champ----is this my child?
Lauren, my first baby girl, who I babysat for since she was born has her Jr/Sr Prom tonight. She invited us over to see her in her pretty "hot pink" dress and to take pictures. Margaret is so excited that she can barely stand it. She likens Lauren's prom to a princess ball, since all the girls will be dressed up and dancing with handsome boys. She has asked if Lauren will be wearing diamonds in her hair and if she will dance prettiest of all! So, we have been talking about her taking a nap all week in order to stay up late and see Lauren. This afternoon we went to lunch and the park with Marg's little friend and came home and she actually fell asleep by herself! I am still in shock! Most moms of almost 4 year olds will surely find this post silly, but My Girl is not the best at going to sleep......much less sleeping in the daytime! I am a proud mommy today! She has been sleeping for MORE than an hour now......WOW!

Recital Costume is IN--and it fits!

Last Thursday at dancing Miss Mary Bray asked a few of the mommies to come in and help the girls try on their recital costumes. This is a rare treat since the mommies usually have to sit out in the waiting room (behind a closed door without a window) and listen to all the fun our dancing girls are having. Margaret was delighted that her outfit fit well and was very cute dancing around and showing off with her "dancing friends". Her recital is on May 9 at 6:30--so family members and any friends that are interested mark your calendars!! She plans on being a ballerina when she grows up and this will be her first on stage performance. It may be something you want to say you saw when she is famous one day!!!

It Feels GREAT to CREATE!

Much of the time we spent with EO, mom and Olivia last week was creative time. Melissa came home with the intention of making rag dolls for the girls and we actually did it! I made two for Margaret and she made three for Olivia. It was LOTS of fun and very rewarding to start on a project and finish it quickly. I started Margaret's first "dolly" while she was at school on Wednesday and by the time I picked her up from her Mimi's around 3, the doll was finished! She actually has slept with her first doll, Monica, every night and is sleeping much more like a big girl. She says Monica helps her sleep! YEAH!!

We also worked on Margaret's quilt. Olivia was very interested in my painting Margaret's hand--so of coarse I painted hers too. Margaret was delighted for Olivia to make hand print too. While Margaret spent some time in Columbia this weekend, I embellished some of the hand prints and made them into representations of the month (it is a month by month quilt). We only have two more prints to do and just a little more sewing on some of the existing prints to make them complete! Then comes the hard part....putting it all together.

Princesses in the Kitchen

Margaret enjoyed playing with Olivia almost everyday of last week (my spring break). We were so excited to have EO and Punk in town all week. Margaret and Olivia played really well together. Below they are being fairy princesses in the kitchen. Princesses cook too, right? Margaret was very funny about naming Olivia "Barbie" several times when they played last week! EO really LOVED that! M

Easter Morning

Margaret and I actually slept a little late on Easter morning. I think she sort of forgot about the visit from the Easter bunny before I reminded her! However, once I reminded her, she was on the GO. Margaret was delighted to find a Madeline Story book and a Tea Party game in her Easter basket. She also loved the squoosy ball and a little bit of candy and THANK GOODNESS a new toothbrush. My sweet girl SURE needs it as much as much candy as she has gotten over the past few days! Margaret played with her tea set game while I showered and got ready for church. She was delighted that her daddy, EO, and Olivia joined us for the Sunday school Easter egg hunt and for church. Margaret and Olivia enjoyed hunting Easter eggs, again....I guess it never gets old at this age. They also loved eating snacks and checking out all of the prizes in the eggs before church. After the Easter party, Margaret proudly led her guests into the sanctuary. She looked at them and counted her "three visitors" when "Miss" Patty asked if anyone was visiting church. Margaret was VERY proud to have 3 visitors on her pew. After church, we went to Mom's house to eat dinner and celebrate (really early) EO's 31st birthday. We all enjoyed a great meal and yummy cheese braid, which is a tradition to have for Melissa's birthday.
